IGP-Suleiman-Abba
As residents of Onitsha are looking forward to Christmas season with great expectations, tragedy has befallen the quiet Odume-Obosi Layout as a man allegedly shot his wife dead for allegedly having affairs with a native doctor.
Checks by Daily Sun revealed that the incident occurred at Ezeaso Street, Odume-Obosi in Idemili North Council area of Anambra State when the man, who also shot himself dead, was tired with his wife’s alleged affairs with the native doctor.
A close family source disclosed that the deceased, simply identified as Martha (other names withheld), had allegedly been dating the native doctor whom she had earlier absconded to Lagos with before her tragic death on Monday.
On further investigation, Daily Sun gathered from the neighbours that they heard gunshots in the early hours of Monday followed by cries of children and when they rushed to the scene, they found the woman lying in the pool of blood, while the man was bleeding profusely from gunshots wound he allegedly inflicted on himself.
The residents said they reported the incident at the Awada Police Station, saying policemen from the station carried the woman to the hospital, where she was later confirmed dead.
Her corpse was later deposited at Borromeo Hospital mortuary while the suspect is still critically ill in an undisclosed hospital in Onitsha.
However, attempt to contact Police Public Relations Officer in the state (PPRO), Uche Eze, failed, as calls to his mobile phone were not answered as at the time of filing this report.
